BOWIE, MD – The Bowie State women's basketball team will kick off the new year resuming Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) play hosting foe Fayetteville State University Lady Broncos at home on Saturday, Jan,4 for its Military Appreciation Day inside the A.C. Jordan Arena. Game time is set for 2:00 p.m., kicking off the evening doubleheader action.
The game will be broadcast live on the Bulldog Sports Network.
FREE admission towards the public.

Clear Bag Policy
Fans will only be able to carry the following style and size bag into the stadium all of which are subject to search.
• Bags that are clear plastic, vinyl, or PVC and do not exceed 12" x 6" x 12"
• One-gallon clear plastic freezer bag (Ziploc bag or similar)
• Small clutch bags, measuring 4.5" x 6.5" with or without a handle or strap
• All other bags will not be permitted. A list of prohibited bags includes but is not limited to: purses, backpacks, drawstring bags that are not clear, briefcases, coolers, fanny packs, luggage, computer bags, camera bags, binocular cases, and diaper bags. Guests are encouraged to return unauthorized items to their vehicles. Bowie State University cannot safeguard items that are not permitted into the stadium.

Last Whistle
The Bulldogs (10-4, 4-0 CIAA) lost its last two outings in the Lynn Holiday Classic against nonconference opponents the Palm Beach Atlantic (6-5) and the Lynn University (7-4) on Dec.21st-22nd. In the last two games, Mia Smith led the charge for the Bulldogs posting 32 points, eight rebounds, and three steals. Mayah Garner tallied 19 points,
seven rebounds, and two blocks while Destiny Ryles contributed with 17 points, eight assists, seven rebounds, and three steals. Additionally, Ayasha Thomas posted a season-high 16 points off the bench in the loss against Lynn University.
Block Party
The Bulldogs have recorded more than four blocks in six games this season, outpacing opponents with a season margin of six total blocks. Swat specialist Kristin Sterling leads the Bulldogs averaging 0.9 blocks per game. Sterling has posted two blocks in three games this season while coming off the bench. Interior defender Smith averages 0.8 blocks per outing ranking second on the team in blocks. Smith recorded a season-high four blocks against Frostburg State earlier in the season. Shot denier Garner averages 0.5 blocks per game. Garner has six blocks throughout 13 games this season. BSU averages 3.27 blocks per game with 49 rejections on the season. Bowie State ranks third in the conference in blocked shots.
About Fayetteville State
The leagues reigning champion, the Fayetteville State Lady Broncos enters Saturday's match (7-5, 2-1 CIAA) following a win against CIAA foe Bluefield State, 74-53 at home on Dec. 21. Keayna McLaughlin led the Lady Broncos with 13 points, six rebounds, and three assist, while Alivia Evans 11 points and two rebounds off the bench. Fayetteville State shot 41.4 percent from the field and outscored Bluefield State in bench points 39-20 in the win.
This is head coach Tyreece Brown's second season with FSU, as the Lady Broncos went 29-3 overall and 17-1 in the conference during the 2023-24 season. Fayetteville State was selected to finish first in the CIAA Preseason Poll. Morgan Graham, Nyah Wilkins, Talia Trotter, and McLaughlin were selected to the 2024-25 CIAA Pre-Season All-Conference Team.
FSU is averaging 64.3 points, 38.4 rebounds, 13.6 assists, and 10.2 steals through 12 games this season. Trotter leads the team, averaging 12.8 points per game, while McLaughlin is the team's passer averaging 2.9 assists and leads the team in steals averaging 2.1 steals per outing. Defensively, Graham leads the team in rebounds averaging 6.3 per game and owns 2.6 blocks per outing. Fayetteville State is on a two-game winning streak respectively.

Bowie State will remain home to host CIAA foe Shaw University in a cross-division showdown on Thursday, Jan. 9 at 5:30 p.m. for its themed Pajama Night Day inside the A.C. Jordan Arena.
