BOWIE, MD – The Bowie State women's basketball team will host Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) showdown against opponent the Virginia Union Lady Panthers at home on Wednesday, Jan. 22 for its Staff Appreciation Night inside the A.C. Jordan Arena. Game time is set for 5:30 p.m., kicking off the evening's doubleheader action.
The game will be broadcast live on the Bulldog Sports Network.

Fans can only carry the following style and size bag into the stadium, all of which are subject to search.
• Bags that are clear plastic, vinyl, or PVC and do not exceed 12" x 6" x 12"
• One-gallon clear plastic freezer bag (Ziploc bag or similar)
• Small clutch bags, measuring 4.5" x 6.5" with or without a handle or strap
• All other bags will not be permitted. A list of prohibited bags includes but is not limited to: purses, backpacks, drawstring bags that are not clear, briefcases, coolers, fanny packs, luggage, computer bags, camera bags, binocular cases, and diaper bags. Guests are encouraged to return unauthorized items to their vehicles. Bowie State University cannot safeguard items that are not permitted into the stadium.

· Bowie State is 7-8 at home and 4-10 on the road against Virginia Union.
- The Lady Panthers own a 12-9 record over BSU, as the Bulldogs won its last outing (73-70) at home on Feb. 14, 2024.
Last Whistle
The Bulldogs (12-5, 6-1 CIAA, 1-0 North) won its last outing against CIAA foe Lincoln (PA) University (8-9, 4-3 CIAA, 0-1 North) on the road this past Saturday. Destiny Ryles led the Bulldogs with 16 points and four rebounds while Beulah Odiong added 14 points and seven rebounds. In addition, Ayasha Thomas scored seven points and two rebounds off the bench.
Bowie State dominated in the paint, outscoring Lincoln 42-38 in points scored inside the paint in the win.
The Ryles Show
Ryles has been dominating all season for the Bulldogs as she leads the team in with 18.4 points, 3.8 assists, and 4.2 steals per game. Ryles has been named CIAA Player of the Week three times this season for BSU. The Baltimore, Md., native ranks first in the conference in steals with 72 on the season while ranking third in the league in the following categories: scoring, assists, and free-throw attempts.
About Virginia Union
VUU enters Wednesday's match (10-4, 4-1 CIAA, 0-1 North) following a loss against CIAA foe Virginia State University, 67-60 on the road on Jan. 18 for the annual Freedom Classic. Nevaeh Reaves led the Lady Panthers with 14 points and four rebounds, while Taniyah Greene helped with 14 points and eight rebounds. Virginia Union shot 87.5 percent converting on 7-8 attempts in the loss.
Through 14 games, Virginia Union is averaging 68.4 points, 38.9 rebounds, 13.6 assists, and 10.2 steals this season. Greene leads the team in the following: 15.6 points per game, 7.6 rebounds per outing, and 1.1 blocks per game. The team's passer is Brittini Martin who averages 2.4 assists per outing and leads the team in steals averaging 1.9 steals per game. VUU ranks third in offense and fourth in defense, respectively.
This is head coach Tierra Terry's fourth season with Virginia Union, as the Lady Panthers went 17-12 overall and 9-8 in the conference during the 2023-24 season. VUU was selected to finish sixth in the CIAA Preseason Poll.

Bowie State will host CIAA opponent Elizabeth City State University in a division match-up on Saturday, Jan. 25 at 2 p.m. inside the A.C. Jordan Arena for its themed 90's Day.
