BOWIE, MD — The Bowie State men's basketball team (0-1) fell 99-80 to Gannon University on Friday night inside A.C. Jordan Arena. The Bulldogs finished with 11 steals and scored 40 points in the paint but couldn't overcome Gannon's strong shooting.
Bowie State battled early, responding quickly after the Golden Knights opened the game with a three-pointer. Charles Thomas, III put the Bulldogs on the board with a layup off an assist from KJ West, and BSU continued to chip away throughout the half. A three-pointer from Jaiden McGhee at the 5:55 mark set up by Jordan Downs brought the Bulldogs within one at 24-23. Despite the push, Gannon held a 43-39 lead at halftime.
In the second half, the Golden Knights extended their advantage with timely shots from beyond the arc. Bowie State remained aggressive inside, highlighted by a layup from Mike Davis that trimmed the deficit to 51-44 with 16:42 remaining. A late three from Justin Morrisey kept BSU in striking distance, but Gannon's offensive momentum carried through the final stretch as they outscored the Bulldogs 56-41 in the period.
