Bowie State opened the season with a 57–48 deficit to East Stroudsburg on Saturday inside A.C. Jordan Arena, despite a strong defensive showing that featured 10 blocks. The Bulldogs rallied to tie the game 43–43 late in the fourth, but the Warriors answered with an 8–0 run to close out the matchup.
BSU bounced back in a big way on Sunday, using a dominant overtime period to defeat Shepherd 82–72 for their first win of the 2025-26 campaign. Bowie State surged late behind clutch scoring and defensive pressure, outscoring the Rams 16–6 in the extra frame. Cobb delivered in key moments throughout the weekend, averaging 17.5 points per game, while Owusu-Mensah, Smith, and Taylor provided strong two-way play to help the Bulldogs leave the Tip-Off Classic at 1–1.
