Allen’s Double-Double Fuels 73–71 Home Victory

BOWIE, MD — The Bowie State men's basketball team (4-10, 2-1 CIAA) used a strong defensive effort to edge Johnson C. Smith University, 73–71, on Sunday afternoon inside A.C. Jordan Arena.

The Bulldogs forced 14 steals and recorded seven blocks, holding off the Golden Bulls in a tightly contested CIAA matchup.

JCSU opened the game with an early scoring run, but Bowie State responded behind Joseph Allen's steady play in the paint. The Bulldogs battled through a back-and-forth first half, closing the period strong as Allen connected on a 3-pointer with four seconds remaining to tie the game at 31–31 at the break.

BSU carried momentum into the second half, opening the period with a dunk by Charles Thomas, III. KJ West provided an offensive spark throughout the half, scoring in transition and attacking the rim to keep the Bulldogs in front.

The game remained close down the stretch before Jailin Landis sealed the victory at the free-throw line, knocking down two shots with three seconds remaining to secure the 73–71 win.
