CALIFORNIA, PA — The Bowie State men's basketball team (2-8) fell to California (PA) 73-49 on Monday night inside Hamer Hall Gymnasium. Despite the defeat, the Bulldogs recorded seven steals, while Cal capitalized with 25 points off turnovers.
After Cal opened on a 12-0 run, the Bulldogs responded with composure. Guy Fauntleroy put BSU on the board with a three at 14:33, and Charles Thomas, III added another from long range to spark the offense. Bowie State continued to fight back, with a late first-half surge capped by a KJ West layup that pulled the Bulldogs within three. BSU's resilience kept the game tight as Cal carried a 31-26 lead into the break.
The Bulldogs continued to compete in the second half, led by West's energy on both ends. Despite a late surge led by Amir Shaheed and Jordan Downs, the Bulldogs were unable to close the significant gap, ending the game with a score of 73-49.
