Match Recap: Women's Tennis |

Bulldogs Fall to Virginia State, 6-1

BOWIE, MD -- The Bowie State women's tennis team (2-6, 0-5 CIAA) came up short against Northern Division rival Virginia State (7-5, 5-2 CIAA) on Tuesday, Apr. 1, at the BSU Athletics Tennis Courts.

In doubles play, the duo of Torrienne Emery and Kayla Lowery reunited but came up short, falling 6-1. Nakari Blunt and Verneice Herndon also teamed up again and put up a fight but were defeated 6-2 by the Trojans.

In singles action, Herndon secured the Bulldogs' lone victory with a hard-fought three-set win at the No. 4 spot (6-2, 4-6, 10-7). Emery faced a tough challenge at No. 1, dropping her match 6-0, 6-0 while Lowery battled at No. 2 but fell 6-0, 6-1. Additionally, Blunt was topped her opponent at No. 3 slot (6-2, 6-2).

Virginia State also claimed points by default at the No. 5 and No. 6 positions.
