ETTRICK, VA --- The Bowie State University women's tennis team (2-12, 0-11 CIAA, 0-6 North) dropped three straight matches on day one of the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Round-Up on Thursday, Apr. 17 at the VSU Tennis Complex in Ettrick, Va.
Game One – Winston-Salem State 4, Bowie State 1
The Bulldogs earned a point by default at No. 3 doubles, while the top doubles duo of Torrienne Emery and Kayla Lowery pushed their match to the wire before falling 7-5 to the Rams (3-9, 3-5 CIAA, 1-6 South). Bowie State came up short across the singles courts, conceding the match.
Game Two – Johnson C. Smith 4, Bowie State 0
BSU was swept in doubles and singles play by the Golden Bulls (4-6, 4-2 CIAA, 4-2 South). Nakari Blunt managed to take two games in her singles match at No. 3 but ultimately fell 8-2.
Game Three – Livingstone 4, Bowie State 1
In the final match of the day, the Bulldogs dropped both completed doubles matches and forfeited the third to LC (2-6, 1-5 CIAA, 1-5 South). In singles action, BSU suffered two 8-1 losses at the top positions and defaulted at No. 3. The team's only point came via default at No. 6 singles.
