ORANGEBURG, S.C. — The Bowie State men's basketball team (4-12, 2-3 CIAA) fell 79–54 to Claflin University (6-6, 4-0 CIAA) on Thursday night inside Tullis Arena.
The Bulldogs struggled to slow Claflin's interior attack, as the Panthers scored 50 points in the paint to take control of the contest.
Bowie State stayed within reach early, highlighted by a Joseph Allen dunk in the opening minutes to keep the score tight. The Bulldogs battled through the first half, but the Panthers used consistent scoring in the lane to build momentum and pull ahead late, taking a 42–28 advantage into halftime.
BSU looked to respond coming out of the break, with Jaiden McGhee opening the second-half scoring and Allen connecting from beyond the arc shortly after. Despite flashes of energy, Claflin answered each push and extended its lead with transition baskets and perimeter shooting.
Bowie State continued to compete down the stretch, but CU maintained control throughout the second half, outscoring the Bulldogs 37–26 to secure the victory.
