Thank you for your interest in Bowie State University Athletics. To ensure a working press row credential and/or photo credential during the basketball season, the following guidelines have been formulated:
ALL requests for media credentials must be received by the Bowie State University Athletic Media Relations Office
no later than two days prior to game. Any requests submitted after the deadline will be denied.
Preference for credentials will be given ONLY to local newspapers, TV anchor personnel and weekly newspapers with a strong history of covering Bowie State University throughout the athletic year. Additionally, credentials will be given to professional scouts. Credential applications for the following sources will be denied any access: Podcasts, Facebook, YouTube and Freelance Video and Photographers.
Weekly newspapers are limited to one (1) press row. Television stations are limited to one (2) court side pass. Photographers will be limited to one (1) court side pass. Student media outlets are limited to one (1) press row.
AGENCIES NOT ELIGIBLE FOR CREDENTIALS
Credentials shall not be issued to the following:
1. Persons solely for the purpose of writing or gathering material for books, short films or movies.
2. Representatives of syndicated television or cable programmers who are not producing programs for immediate news coverage (i.e., to air within 24 hours).
3. Podcasts.
4. Entities normally identified as “tout sheets” and other publications devoted solely to gambling.
5. Agencies that normally provide specific services for a media outlet (e.g., scores) if many of its clients have been accredited to staff the event.
6. Websites that are an extension of a non-digital local media outlet (newspaper, radio, television) will not be issued credentials independent of their originating organization.
7. Online entities not specifically referenced herein.
No credentials will be issued to any website that is not deemed by Bowie State Athletics to have adequate editorial oversight.
Credentials will not be approved to anyone who writes or posts under an alias.
Bowie State Athletics reserves the right to enforce the above policies including revocation or suspension of accreditation.
If there are questions about any of the above policies, please contact a member of the Bowie State Athletics Media Relations staff.
Non-working spouses, relatives, friends and children are not permitted to bear credentials and are not permitted in any of the working press areas. Violators will be escorted out by the university police and future requests for credentials will be denied. In the event the credential holder posts photos on any social media platform of the credentials, that person will have its credential revoked for the season and any future events.
A confirmation notice, stating specifically whether your request is being honored, will be sent within two (2) working days of receipt of your application. All media credentials will be available for pick up at the Athletic Ticket Office in front of Leonidas S. James Physical Education Complex on campus or at the Ticket Will Call Box on Day of Game. Absolutely NO phone calls will be accepted.
The Bowie State University Athletic Media Relations Office, at their discretion, reserves the right to reject requests for credentials in order to assure a working atmosphere along press row and in the other working press areas. Credentials who have been approved can be picked up prior to game day from the Athelic Ticket Booth in front of Leonidas S. James Physical Education Complex on the BSU campus or on day of game. You must present a Valid ID prior to be granted a credential.
Because of limited space, credential requests received after the deadline will be handled on a first-come, first-served basis.
For questions concerning credentials, please contact Dr. Jolisa Williams at jkwilliams@bowiestate.edu.
