Anthony Carpenter enters his third season as an assistant coach for the Bowie State men's basketball program in 2026-27, where he serves as the team's Player Development Coach and Film Coordinator.
Carpenter plays an integral role in the Bulldogs' day-to-day operations, overseeing player development, film analysis, opponent scouting, recruiting, practice planning, and game preparation. Working closely with the coaching staff, he develops individualized training plans for student-athletes, prepares detailed scouting reports, evaluates prospective recruits, and helps implement offensive game strategies.
Since joining the coaching staff in August 2023, Carpenter has helped guide Bowie State to several program milestones. During his first two seasons, the Bulldogs earned multiple CIAA postseason appearances, recorded victories over NCAA Division I opponents in consecutive seasons, produced All-CIAA and CIAA All-Tournament selections, and continued to rank among the conference leaders in several defensive categories. He also played a key role in recruiting one of the program's top freshman prospects while contributing to the development of multiple all-conference student-athletes.
Prior to beginning his coaching career, Carpenter was a standout point guard at Bowie State. A team captain and respected leader, he earned CIAA All-Tournament Team honors and was named the Most Valuable Player of his team's opening-round victory during the 2022 CIAA Men's Basketball Tournament. His experience as a student-athlete provides valuable perspective in mentoring and developing the next generation of Bulldogs.
Away from the court, Carpenter has professional experience in marketing and business development through State Farm Insurance, where he developed strong communication, client relations, and organizational skills. He also completed an athletic administration internship at Gerstell Academy, gaining experience in athletic operations, event management, and departmental administration.
A native of Reisterstown, Maryland, Carpenter earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Business Information Technology from Bowie State University in December 2023.
