Pamela Crockett

Pamela Crockett was named the head coach for the Bowie State University men's and women's track and field and cross country programs June 2024.

Crockett comes to BSU after a 17-year stint with Full Speed Athletics. She got her start in the coaching world beginning with coaching her own children, each of whom were AAU and USATF All-Americans and matriculated to Division I athletics in track & field and football, respectively. Crockett went on to coach multiple rising stars setting conference, state and national records in a variety of events. Thriving on sprints, she coached five-star South Carolina Gamecock football and track sensation Nyckoles Harbor for ten years and mentored BIG10 and BIG12 400m Champion and U20 4x400m World Record Holder Ziyah Holman. Additionally, she coached Texas Tech 400m Hurdle superstar and Olympic Trials qualifier Caleb Dean in the very beginning stages of his career along with MEAC 200M runner-up Jalen Booth-Mitchell (Delaware State) and Ohio State freshman (Marcus Brown).

In the District of Columbia record books, Crockett has left an incredible footprint where her athletes went on to win DCSAA Titles in the 55m, 100m, 200m, 300m, 400m, 500m, long jump and triple jump. Her athletes have garnered Washington Post All-Met honors, Gatorade Athlete of the Year recognition and New Balance Nationals All-American status. She has an equally impressive record in both the AAU and USATF Indoor Nationals and Junior Olympics. Many of her athletes continued to hone their speed but elected to pursue football and are currently on the rosters of schools representing every conference in the Power Five with one who had the opportunity to join an NFL team.

Crockett's tenure as a track and field participant expands over three decades dating back to her youth track days where her teammates and sister-friends included Olympians Angela Williams and Sandra Farmer-Patrick. Crockett competed at Hunter College where she excelled as a scholar-athlete. She also competed as a member of the Police Athletic League under the guidance of the late legendary Connie Ford and his predecessor Connie Simpson Hayes, PhD (Delaware State MEAC Champion Coach) whom she credits with being the most profoundly motivational, inspirational and real figure a young woman could hope to encounter.

Crockett is a proud alumna of Hunter College and the University of Michigan.
