Chris Burley joined the Bulldogs staff as an assistant coach in August 2015. Burley is a Maryland native who brings with him a history of great success at the high school level. Coach B’s primary responsibilities with the Bulldogs includes working with the guards, as well as recruiting, player development, community relation and on the floor execution.
Most of Coach Burley's success on the sidelines came as an Assistant Coach at Western High School in Baltimore (Md.). It was there that he recruited and coached two Baltimore Sun Players of the Year, four High School All-Americans (Jannah Tucker, Akeema Richards, Zhondria Benn, & Achiri Ade) and more than 15 scholarship student-athletes. His teams made five Final Four Maryland State Appearances and three State Final-Runner Ups.
Coach B had prior coaching stints at Friends High School, St. Francis Academy and Towson Catholic High School. He helped to produced several division 1 players and had a great deal of success as well.
In the summer of 2015, Coach B was selected to coach at University of Maryland College Park and Georgetown University’s Women’s Basketball Elite Camps. He was responsible improving individual skills, competitive team play, and skill competitions.
Coach B was the executive director of the Breezy Bishop Showcase (now the Beast of the East Showcase) from 2010-11 and the assistant executive director from 2005-10, before taken a college assistant position.
His proudest accomplishment is seeing the young women he coaches excel in a variety of professions to include: entrepreneur, coaching, education, business, science and math. Coach said of his student athletes, “I hope I gave my young ladies strong leadership and guidance to pursue their dreams.”
Burley earned his Master’s Degree in Forensic Studies from Stevenson University in 2009 and has his bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. Coach Burley has a wife Tinea, and they have three children: Chris (14), Jackson (5) and Camden (3).
