Sean Stinnett begins his second season as Director of Basketball Operations for the Bowie State women’s basketball staff and will be involved in all phases of the program. His primary duties will consist of scouting, practice, game preparation and game day operations.
Prior to Bowie State, he was employed by Baltimore City Community College (2007-2010) in several capacities; Sports Information Director, Sports Administrator and Health & Wellness Instructor. Throughout his career, Stinnett has demonstrated a valuable commitment and dedication in educating and mentoring student-athletes. He credits the academic success by several former student-athletes, Byron Westmoreland (Bowie State), John Williams (California University of PA), Steven Flowers (American University), Calvert Townes (California University of PA) and Shavon Scott (Georgetown (Ky.) College).
Stinnett began his college coaching career with current Lady Bulldogs head coach Renard Smith at Baltimore City Community College with the Lady Panthers women’s basketball team. Stinnett assisted with all sports administration duties and handled the game day operations for all sporting and special events. During his third season, the Lady Panthers finished their 2009-2010 campaign with an undefeated record of 27-0 and captured the 2010 Maryland JUCO and JUCO Region XX Championships.
During the 2010-2011 season, Stinnett gained valuable experience serving under head coach Mike Francis, while a member of the men’s basketball coaching staff at the Community College of Baltimore County – Essex. He assisted with the team’s practices, player development, game management, film study and statistics.
In addition to coaching women’s basketball, Stinnett is the co-coordinator for Baltimore’s chapter of the Ballstars Basketball camp for men. Rick Ball serves as the founder and executive director of the camp and Coach Stinnett handles all recruiting of players and coaches.
A native of Baltimore, MD, Stinnett received his associates of arts degree in communications from Baltimore City Community College and a bachelor’s degree in sports management from Coppin State University. He is working towards a master’s degree in athletic administration at California University of Pennsylvania.
