Yvette Thomasson

Yvette Thomasson, of Prince George’s County Maryland, is no stranger to the area and has fourteen years of coaching experience under her belt, and begins her seventh season affiliated with the Lady Bulldogs of Bowie State University.

Before coaching at Bowie State, she coached high school volleyball in Prince George’s County. Other coaching experience came when she was named 2nd assistant at Gallaudet University in Washington, DC for their volleyball and basketball programs.

Prior to her coaching career, Coach Thomasson played collegiate basketball and volleyball at Marymount University located in Arlington, VA, where she earned many accolades and awards. Coach Thomasson was a dynamic volleyball player while attending Marymount. In 1992, Yvette was named 2nd team All-CAC, 1993 1st team All-CAC, and currently holds the CAC Record holder for Individual Single Match Blocks vs. Catholic 10/30/1993. Thomasson ended the 1993 CAC regular season ranked #4 in attack percentage (.311), #8 kills per game (3.6), #3 Blocker per game (2.2).

Graduating in 1994 with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, remaining at Marymount, she earned a Master’s degree in Psychological Services Counseling in 1995, and a Master’s in School Counseling in 1997. Thomasson is a full-time employee in Prince George’s County as a Professional School Counselor. Her greatest accomplishment is being the proud parent to two awesome kids, daughter Madison and son Andrew.
