Ingram joined the Bowie State staff in February 2026, she was born in Washington, DC and attended public schools in Montgomery County, MD where her tennis career began. With a record of 116 - 0 Jeri became the first undefeated tennis athlete in high school history during her four years of attendance at Springbrook High School (1984-1988). Her High School tennis record of 116-0 and 4 years of undefeated match play still stands today, 36 years later. By the age of 16 Jeri accomplished #6 singles and a #1 doubles United States Tennis Association (USTA) national ranking. She won 3 USTA national titles to achieve this ranking. Following junior competition, she attended the University of Maryland on a full athletic scholarship where she played #1 for the tennis team; she was undefeated in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC), voted Most Valuable Player (MVP), and an all-ACC player. Jeri played on the Women Tennis Association (WTA) Professional Tour beginning in 1989 for a period of eight years and obtained a career low ranking of #118. Jeri holds 6 – ITF titles, competed in the US Open for 8 consecutive years, as well as multiple appearances at the Australian Open, French Open, and Wimbledon.
Jeri Ingram currently serves as the Executive Director and founder of Metropolitan Tennis & Education Group (MTEG). She leads the organizations operations and development of their tennis, education, social, community service, and life skills programs. These programs operate in Maryland and Washington, DC. In honor of her father, and her tennis mentor Arthur Ashe, Jeri sought to integrate tennis & education while supporting youth to obtain their full potential both on and off the tennis court. In 2005, Jeri merged her interest in coaching & business and earned her BS in Business Administration from American University. Her first impactful program was a partnership with District of Columbia Public Schools (DCPS) and the DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DCDPR). Jeri next joined DCDPR and expanded tennis & education after school programming to over 3000 participants at award-winning standards. In 2015 Jeri expanded her strategic vision and created a non-profit organization of her own, Metropolitan Tennis & Education Group (MTEG). In the past 9 years the organization captured over 6000 students and graduated over 100 High School seniors with tennis & education college scholarships among many other awards. Awards include - 2015 USTA Tennis Organization of the Year, 2015 Tennis Industry Magazine Parks & Recreation Program of the Year, and the 2014 Mid Atlantic USTA Tennis Organization of the Year. In addition, Jeri is a USTA Player Development Faculty Coach and a member of the USTA National Coaching Advisory Group.
Jeri graduated from The American University, Kogod School of Business with a Business Administration, BS. Her athletic educational coaching experience includes Bowie State University – Associate Head Coach, Georgetown University – Assistant Coach, Saint John’s College High School – Head Coach, Bullis School – Assistant Coach, as well as private school, public school, High School and College pathway placement consulting. In partnership with Sharon Ingram, they created, Grand Slamma, a product line that highlights the black experience in the tennis world, celebrates black talent, and amplifies their voices.
As a multiple Hall of Fame member, Jeri continuously volunteers to grow the game of tennis across the nation. She has served in a National Committee and a Board of Directors capacity for over 15 years to increase her impact in the game. Board of Directors and Director positions include USTA Nominating Committee, USTA Foundation, Associate Board of Director, USTA Mid Atlantic Board of Director Vice President, USTA Committee Community Tennis (CTA) Chair; USTA Mid Atlantic Coaches Commission Member; Mid Atlantic Tennis and Education Foundation President; USTA Community Tennis Association, Vice Chair; USTA Junior Team Tennis Committee, Member; USTA Junior Team Tennis Committee, Member; USTA/DC Board of Directors, 2nd Vice President; USTA MAS Junior Team Tennis Committee, Vice Chair, and Black Girls Tennis Club Board of Director.
