Thompson brings a wealth of experience to the role, with decades of coaching, pro shop management, and elite-level training in the sport of bowling. His coaching journey began at Bolling Air Force Base in Washington, D.C., working with youth bowlers. His passion and expertise led him to a significant opportunity assisting with the opening of a Pro Shop in Glen Burnie, Md., under Professional Bowling Instructions (PBI), where he trained under two former touring professionals, Don Moyer and Michelle Mullen.
During his five-year tenure with PBI, Thompson honed his coaching techniques through hands-on seminars, video analysis, and personalized instruction. His specialties included the physical game, lane play, targeting, and custom ball fitting. Eventually, he opened his own Pro Shop in Laurel, Md., while hosting coaching seminars, offering private lessons, and launching one of the most competitive scratch leagues (SCRATCH TRIO'S) in the D.C. and Baltimore region.
His collegiate coaching resume includes stints as an Assistant Coach at both Bowie State University and Morgan State University. While at BSU, Thompson helped guide the Bulldogs to two CIAA conference championships and mentored student-athletes who earned Rookie of the Year honors and top conference averages. During his tenure at Morgan State, he played a vital role in preparing a student-athlete who qualified for the Intercollegiate Singles Championship (ISC), earning a national competition bid in Las Vegas. His leadership also contributed to a second-place team finish at the New Jersey Open and multiple all-conference honors for team members.
Thompson holds a Bachelor of Science in Business and Management from the University of Maryland University and a Master of Arts in Procurement and Acquisition Management from Webster University. His certifications include USBC Silver Level Coach, Kegel Coaching Master's Program, International Pro Shop Instructor Training, and advanced ball drilling and layout expertise.
