(FAYETTEVILLE, NC)  Bowie State University shutout its second straight CIAA Western Division opponent on opening day of the conference volleyball Round-Up.  The Lady Bulldogs defeated the Lady Falcons of St. Augustine's College 25-20, 25-15 and 25-20 and improved to 4-0 in the CIAA and 6-3 overall.

Alycia Williams-Chase (Baltimore, MD, Baltimore Polytechnic) once again paced Bowie State on offense (14 kills) and was the Lady Bulldogs top defensive player with 16 digs.  Breaun Garner (Beltsville, MD, Northwestern), Tamira Conner Rogers (Ft. Washington, MD, Oxon Hill) and La Tesha Johnson (Arnold, MD, Antioch Christian School, Anne Arundel C.C.) had an outstanding defensive match as well, recording nine, eight and seven digs respectively.  Conner Rogers knocked down eight kills in the sweep and Garner along with Jasmine McNair (Germantown, MD, Seneca Valley) chipped in four kills each.

Bowie State will look to wrap up day one of the Round-Up unbeaten after facing Livingstone College at 8 p.m. in Fayetteville State's Capel Arena.
