FINAL STATS vs. GOLDEY-BEACOM
(WILMINGTON, DE) It was a tough opening weekend for Bowie State volleyball. The Lady Bulldogs wrapped up the weekend road trip, losing 3-0 (11-25, 15-25 and 9-25) to Philadelphia University and dropping a 3-0 decision (9-25, 19-25 and 17-25) to host Goldey-Beacom.
Junior JaTyra Heath (Federalsburg, MD, Colonel Richardson, Chowan Univ.) paced Bowie State in match one against Philadelphia, leading the team with seven kills to go along with seven digs. Philadelphia's Emma Claffy accounted for a match-high 10 kills and added 10 digs to the stat sheet. Nicole Berkstresser tallied nine kills and Mary Mancuso recorded a game-high 14 digs in the victory.
Heath led BSU's Lady Bulldogs in match two, knocking down seven kills and added three service aces. Freshman Jasmine Nixon (Middletown, NY, Middletown) played a strong match, recording six kills in the setback.
Goldey-Beacom was led by Roni Shaner with a match-high 11 kills and 12 digs and teammate Kellyn Nolan chipped in eight kills to go along with three service aces.
Bowie State University (0-4) will make their home debut - Wednesday, September 5th against Virginia Union University at 6 p.m. in BSU's A.C. Jordan Arena.
