(BOWIE, Md.) The Lady Bulldogs volleyball team showed great team spirit, but dropped a 3-0 decision to Virginia State, falling in straight sets by scores of 25-19, 25-11 and 25-14. The loss puts the Bowie State records at 4-21 overall, 2-14 in the CIAA and 2-8 in the conferences Northern Division.

Jasmine Nixon (Middletown, NY, Middletown) contributed six kills in the setback. Nixon paced BSU in the dog category with six and sophomore
Symone' Jordan (Accokeek, MD, Gwynn Park) along with freshman
Cindy Holland (Baltimore, MD, Edmondson) contributed five and four kills respectively. Senior
JaTyra Heath (Federalsburg, MD, Colonel Richardson, Chowan Univ.) led the Lady Bulldogs with two service aces and added three kills, four digs and one block.
Nikkisha Walker was Virginia State University's top offensive producer, tallying a match-high 14 kills on 26 attacks to go along with six digs. Brittni Pittman led the VSU Lady Trojans with a match-high 13 digs and tied for team-high service ace honors with four. Virginia State (11-12, 11-6 CIAA, 8-3 North) will host Chowan University – Tuesday, October 26th at 6 p.m.
Bowie State returns to the court – Saturday, October 23rd, hosting the Hawks of Chowan at 10 a.m. in the A.C. Jordan Arena.
