(BOWIE, Md.) The Chowan University volleyball team picked up an easy straight sets win over Bowie State University in CIAA Northern Division action. The Hawks out hit the Lady Bulldogs 35-11 and picked up 15 points off service aces. Chowan improves to 15-11 overall, 13-2 in the CIAA, and 8-2 in the Northern Division. Bowie State falls to 4-23 overall and 2-14 in the CIAA. Bowie State has four regular season matches remaining, only one of which is a conference opponent.
Chowan rolled to the win with final set scores of 25-9, 25-9, and 25-10. Victoria Lewis paced the Hawks with 11 kills while teammate Karina Monroe came in with nine kills. Callie Armistead ended the day with 29 assists and Megan Sawyer had five service aces and four digs.
Sophomore
Jasmine Nixon (Middletown, NY, Middletown) led BSU's Lady Bulldogs with four kill while senior
JaTyra Heath (Federalsburg, MD, Colonel Richardson, Chowan Univ.) and freshman
Kyerra Martin (Capital Heights, MD, Forestville Military Academy) added a pair of kills apiece. White also closed out the match with a team-high seven assists to go along with four digs.
Bowie State will close out the CIAA portion of its schedule - Tuesday, October 26th, hosting the Lady Lions of Lincoln University of Pennsylvania. Match time in BSU's A.C. Jordan Arena is 6 pm.
