Tariq Jones Rushes for Game-High 82 Yards in 55-6 Thumping of Livingstone
FINAL STATS

(SALISBURY, N.C.) Junior Tariq Jones (Baltimore, MD, Edmondson) rushed for a game-high 82 yards and fellow junior Clifton Budd (Silver Spring, MD, Sherwood) completed 8-of-15 passes for a game-high 106 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Bowie State to a lopsided 55-6 drilling of Livingstone College.  This game was a conference game for Bowie State (not Livingstone) and gives the Bulldogs a 1-3 overall record and 1-0 mark in the CIAA.

Bowie State senior Troy Gibson, Jr. (Columbia, MD, Atholton) scored the first six points of the game and junior Michael Gagne (Baltimore, MD, Parkville) added the extra point for an early 7-0 lead at the 10:07 mark of the opening period. Senior Kyle Jackson (Baltimore, MD, Edmondson) picked off a Livingstone pass by Levon Stanley and returned it 34-yards for a touchdown. Gagne's extra point opened the Bowie State lead to 14-0.

Jamel Moore scored Livingstone's first touchdown of the game with 12:44 left in the second quarter, but Miles Harris missed the extra point, cutting the Blue Bears deficit to 14-6. A fake field goal with 7:30 remaining in the first half resulted in a Budd to senior Terence Peete, Jr. (Memphis, TN, Northwest) nine-yard touchdown. Gagne's extra point pushed the BSU Bulldogs lead to 21-6. Bowie State's sophomore Reginald McIntyre (Baltimore, MD, North County, Wesley College) caught his first touchdown of the season, hauling in a 22-yard pass from Budd. However, Livingstone's Aaron Williams blocked the extra point, but the Bowie State lead continued to grow to 27-6.

Bowie State opened the second half with a James Proctor, Jr. (Capital Heights, MD, Suitland) 89-yard kickoff return for a touchdown. Gagne converted the extra point, extending the Bulldogs lead to 34-6. Junior Delano Johnson (Baltimore, MD, Dunbar) forced a fumble deep in Livingstone territory and junior Keith Harris (Washington, DC, Dunbar, Prince George's C.C.) recovered in the end zone, expanding the Bowie State lead to 41-6 with 9:52 to go in the third quarter. Sophomore Ramono Flowers (Largo, MD, Largo, Central Michigan Univ.) scored on a 16-yard rumble and Gagne extra point, giving Bowie State a 48-6 cushion at the end of three quarters of play.

Livingstone (0-4 / 0-1 CIAA) started the final period of play with a solid drive that got inside the Bowie State 10 yard line. The Blue Bears went for it on fourth down from the seven yard line, but the Bulldogs defense snuffed out the drive. McIntyre scored his second touchdown of the day, this time from 22-yards out and freshman Gregory Koepping (Crofton, MD, South River) added his first PAT of the season for a 55-6 advantage. McIntyre led Bowie State with 44 reception yards (two receptions) and junior Douglas McNeil, III (Baltimore, MD, New Town, James Madison Univ.) also had two receptions for 25 yards.

Moore led Livingstone on the ground with 22 rushing yards and the Blue Bears' only touchdown of the game. Curtis Edens completed 10 passes for 62 yards while Raymond Mallos had three completions for 38 yards. Anthony Holland caught six passes for 68 yards. Devonta Harmon led the Livingstone defense with eight tackles and Aaron Williams added another seven tackles.

Bowie State sophomore Bekewele Amadi (Riverdale, MD, Bladensburg, Salisbury) led both teams in tackles with nine, while teammates Johnson and Sterling Grant-Jones (Baltimore, MD, Edmondson) tacked on six and five tackles respectively.

Overall, Bowie State's Bulldogs tallied 323 yards of total offense with 207 yards on the ground and 116 yards in the air. Livingstone totaled 144 yards of offense, with 21 yards rushing and 123 passing.
