WINSTON-SALEM STATE STOPS BOWIE STATE 3-0 AT CIAA ROUND-UP

(FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.) It continues be a rough road for the Bowie State volleyball team. The Lady Bulldogs dropped their fourth straight CIAA Round-Up match, this time to Winston-Salem State by a 3-0 count.  The Lady Rams shut out the Lady Bulldogs by set scores of 25-12, 25-15 and 25-18. 

Sophomore Jasmine Nixon (Middletown, NY, Middletown) led Bowie State with a team-high six kills and senior JaTyra Heath (Federalsburg, MD, Colonel Richardson, Chowan Univ.) along with freshman Tiffany White (Towson, MD, Digital Harbor) added five kills each. Heath was BSU's top digger with six and White was a close second with four digs. 

As a team, Bowie State had 20 reception errors compared to just two for Winston-Salem State. Winston-Salem State ended the three-game sweep with an attack percentage of .338 with its best attack effort coming in set one (.500). Bowie State closed out the match with a .265 attack percentage. 

Winston-Salem State led Winston-Salem State's Lady Rams with 12 kills on 17 total attacks to go along with three service aces and two digs. 

Bowie State will look to snap their current five match slide with a 4 p.m. match later today against Johnson C. Smith University.
