(BOWIE, Md.) Bowie State University played well in their season opener, but Goldey-Beacom College was better on this day, as the Lightning defeated the host Lady Bulldogs 3-0. Goldey-Beacom won by scores of 25-22, 25-7 and 25-20.

Briana Flowers (Millersville, MD, Old Mill) contributed two kills each and sophomore
Symone' Jordan (Accokeek, MD, Gwynn Park) along with freshman
Brelyn Finley (District Heights, MD, Charles H. Flowers) recorded one kill each.
Tyla Wells paced Goldey-Beacom's Lightning with a dozen kills and Roni Shaner along with Rebecca Stoffer knocked down eight kills apiece.
Bowie State (0-1) will return to the court Saturday (9/4) versus Franklin Pierce University as part of a Dutch Country Spiketacular tri-match at 11 am. The BSU Lady Bulldogs will also play host Millersville University at 1 p.m. and wrap the weekend with a 3 p.m. contest against Felician College.
