Virginia University of Lynchburg made a very late arrival to the Bowie State University campus, but the BSU Lady Bulldogs assisted them with an early departure, sweeping the Lady Dragons 6-0 in a non-conference doubleheader.

Bowie State cruised to a three-set win in match one, slaying the VUL's Lady Dragons 25-8, 25-12 and 25-9.  The Lady Bulldogs played well both offensively and defensively, totaling 20 service aces while holding the Lady Dragons to just four total kills in match one.  BSU junior Jasmine Nixon and sophomore Briana Flowers led Bowie State with seven kills each and freshman Paige McIntosh added 21 assists.  McIntosh, freshman Jenahye' Johnson and junior Symone' Jordan served up four aces each. 

As a team, Virginia University of Lynchburg was held to a negative .306 attack percentage in match one.

Bowie State rolled in match two, defeating Virginia University of Lynchburg by identical 25-14 scores in all three sets.  The two match sweep improved the BSU record to 7-15.

Nixon paced Bowie State in match two with 10 kills while freshmen McIntosh and freshman Cara Nance contributed six kills apiece.  Nance also added a match-high four services aces and McIntosh was credited with 23 assists in the final match of the doubleheader.

VUL's Lady Dragons, playing only their fifth match of the season dropped to 0-5 and were led by Cateast Jenkins with six kills and three assists and Alexandria Dill added four kills in the nightcap.

Bowie State University returns to the court Saturday (October 8) on the road at Virginia State University (1 pm) and follow that match with a Sunday (October 9) road contest at Virginia Union University (1 pm).  The Lady Bulldogs return home, Thursday, October 13th, hosting Wilmington (Del.) University at 6 pm in BSU's A.C. Jordan Arena.
