VIRGINIA STATE WINS FOUR SET MATCH OVER BOWIE STATE

(BOWIE, Md.) Visiting Virginia State University jumped out to a two set lead and cruised to a 3-1 match victory over Bowie State University in CIAA volleyball action.  Virginia State won by scores of 25-12, 25-12, 15-25 and 25-17.

The BSU Lady Bulldogs were led by freshman Cara Nance with a team-high 13 kills and nine digs. Nance also earned two service aces, one block solo and one block assist. Sophomore Briana Flowers was credited with 16 assists and picked up five digs.

Virginia State (6-10, 6-4 CIAA, 2-1 North) was led by Nikkisha Walker with a match-high 17 kills and added one service ace, and nine digs to the stat sheet. Jasmine Henderson was the leader in setups with 27 assists and paced the Lady Trojans with three service aces to go along with five digs.

Bowie State (2-13, 2-7 CIAA, 1-2 North) steps out of conference for their next match, traveling across town to face Washington Adventist University at 2 pm Sunday (September 25).
