Box Score WINSTON-SALEM, NC – The Winston-Salem State Lady Rams (4-14, 4-5 CIAA) closed out the CIAA Round-Up in style with a four-set win over the Bowie State Lady Bulldogs (3-15, 1-8 CIAA), Sunday morning. The WSSU offense clicked on all cylinders in the match when the team took the win 25-10, 25-16, 21-25, and 25-16 to close out the round-up with a perfect 3-0 record for the weekend.
As a team, the Lady Rams had 44 kills and just 17 errors. The team also totaled 47 digs as well in the match. The Lady Rams were led by Francesca Edgerton and Chelsea Violenes with eight kills each. Katelyn Sigala added eight kills as well with five service aces in the match.
Bowie State junior
Brelyn Finley led the Lady Bulldogs with a match-high 12 kills on 21 total attacks to go along with two block assists, a dig and one assist. Junior
Briana Flowers was responsible for seven kills and added two assists, three service aces, six digs and a block assists.
As a team, Bowie State managed 32 kills on 106 attacks, which translates into a .085 attack percentage.
The Lady Rams looked great early in the 25-10 opening set victory. The set included a run of nine straight WSSU points with Edgerton serving. The second set saw much of the same with the Lady Rams cruising to the 25-16 victory that saw a seven-point run by the Lady Rams as well.
Bowie State University returns to the court Thursday, October 4th for a CIAA divisional match at Virginia Union University. First serve is set for 6 pm in VUU's Barco-Stevens Hall.
