Volleyball Takes Down Washington Adventist in 3-0 Non Conference Sweep

Box Score TAKOMA PARK, Md. - Hungry for their first victory of the season, the Lady Bulldogs volleyball team swept a pesky Washington Adventist University team 3-0 in a non-conference match. Bowie State University defeated the Lady Shock by scores of 25-19, 25-16 and 25-18.

As a team, Bowie State ended the match with an attack percentage of .145 and served up a match-high 13 team service aces. With the victory, Bowie State's record stands at 1-4.

Sophomore Alexis Fisher (Chesapeake Beach, Md.) led the BSU Lady Bulldogs assault with seven kills on 14 attacks. Fisher also added tied for team-high service aces with three to go along with one block. Fellow sophomore Yaje Ngundam (Bowie, Md.) recorded six kills on 18 attacks, tied Fisher in service aces with three; picked up a half dozen digs and contributed one block solo.

BSU freshman Regan Taylor (Suffolk, Va.) paced the Lady Bulldogs in digs with eight, knocked down three kills and had two service aces. Senior Briana Flowers (Millersville, Md.) setup her teammates 18 times and fellow senior Brelyn Finley (District Heights, Md.) put three kills, two assists and four digs on the stat sheet.

Washington Adventist (2-6) was led by Rachael Nutter with four kills on 19 attacks to go along with one service ace and three solo blocks. Adriana Mitchell and Vanessa Rice recorded a pair of kills for the Lady Shock and Re'gene Watson was responsible for WAU's only other kill of the match.

Bowie State begins conference play on Saturday (9/14) against Johnson C. Smith at 12 pm in one of the opening matches of CIAA Round-Up I hosted by Lincoln (Pa.). The Lady Bulldogs will also take on Livingstone at 6 pm Saturday and close out the weekend versus Winston-Salem State at 11 am Sunday.
