Box Score LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa. – The Bowie State University volleyball team closed out their 2014 season on a high note, beating The Lincoln University 3-1 (17-25, 26-24, 27-25 and 25-18) on Friday night. With the win, Bowie State ends the year with a 8-20 overall mark, 4-12 in the conference and 2-8 in the CIAA North.
Freshman
Valerie Taylor (Walkersville, Md.) led the charge with a match-high 16 kills to go along with four assisted blocks and one dig. The tandem of junior
Yaje Ngundam (Bowie, Md.) and
India Mason (New Orleans, La.) tallied nine and seven kills respectively for the Lady Bulldogs. Redshirt junior
Marissa Martinez (Albuquerque, N.M.) was all over the court, picking up a match-high 36 digs and Ngundam added another 23 digs to along with two service aces. Sophomore
Brooke Archer-Simpson (Bowie, Md.) was credited with 37 of Bowie State's 39 assists in the four set victory.
Jillian Lee and Ashanti Price paced Lincoln's Lady Lions with 12 and eight kills respectively while Toni Smith and Keldesha Spencer combined for another 11 kills. Sydney Cook and Shana King were responsible for all of the Lady Lions' assists. Cook led the way with 20 and King contributed a dozen assists. Kyra Orton led five Lincoln players in digs with a team-high 24. Lincoln wraps up the year with a 3-18 overall record, 1-15 in the CIAA and 0-10 in the division.
