BOWIE, Md. - Bowie State University honored four volleyball players prior to Friday's (11/13) "Senior Night" contest, but the Lady Lions spoiled the fistivities with a 3-1 decision over the Lady Bulldogs by scores of 25-16, 25-15, 21-25 and 25-16.
Yaje Ngundam (Bowie, Md.),
Marissa Martinez (Albuquerque, N.M.),
Alexis Fisher (Chesapeake Beach, Md.) and
Alicia Grant (Edgewood, Md.) played their final match in a Bowie State uniform. Bowie State ends the year with an overall record of 7-26, 3-13 in the CIAA and 1-9 in the division.
Sophomore
Valerie Taylor (Walkersville, Md.) led the Lady Bulldogs with a team-high eight kills and Ngundam added seven kills. Juniors
Breiona Garrison (Baltimore, Md.) and
Jasmine Ashe (Baltimore, Md.) tallied six and five kills respectively. Junior
Adrielle Brisbon (Fort Washington, Md.) recorded a match-high 27 assists and added seven digs. Martinez paced Bowie State with 15 digs and was responsible for a match-high five service aces.
Mariah Russell and Jillian Lee were the Lincoln (Pa.) offensive leaders with 14 and 12 kills respectively on a combined 54 attacks. Shanna King led the team in assists with 26 and picked up 11 digs. Sydney Cook paced the Lady Lions on defense with 22 digs. With the win, Lincoln (Pa.) ends the regular season with a 6-13 overall mark, 5-11 in league play and 4-6 in the CIAA North.
