Alderson-Broaddus Hands Bowie State Bulldogs 76-63 Setback

PHILIPPI, W.Va. - Senior Andre Jackson (Baltimore, Md.) finished with personal season-highs of 15 points and eight rebounds for Bowie State University in a 76-63 men's basketball loss at Alderson-Broaddus University on Saturday afternoon.
 
Seniors Miles Jackson (Silver Spring, Md.) and Justin Beck (Ellicott City, Md.) contributed 11 and 10 points respectively. Senior Julian Livingston (Bowie, Md.) scored eight points while junior Michael Briscoe (Waldorf, Md.) added seven points and grabbed a team and person season-high 10 rebounds for the Bulldogs.
 
Seniors Jordan Goodman (Riverdale, Md.) and Kenneth Tappin (Hyattsville, Md.) rounded out Bowie State's scorers with seven and five points respectively. Goodman dished out a team-high five assists.
 
In terms of team stats, Bowie State had a season-high five blocked shots with Briscoe and Jackson responsible for two and Goodman with one. The Bulldogs shot a season-low 35.9 percent from the field (23-of-64) and struggled from long range, making just 4-of-20 (20 percent) behind the 3-point arc.
 
Alderson-Broaddus (2-1) was led by Angelo Cugini with a game-high double-double of 22 points and 12 rebounds. Thylas Perkins tallied 18 points, five rebounds and four assists. Sanar Shamdeen and Richard Lemon also scored in double figures, recording 17 and 11 points respectively for the Battlers.
 
The Battlers finished the game with a field goal shooting percentage of 42.9 (27-of-63), which included 12-of-30 (40 percent) beyond the arc.
 
Alderson-Broaddus led for 36 minutes and 46 seconds of the total forty minutes played and the Battlers out-rebounded the Bulldogs 47-39.
 
The Bulldogs return home on Wednesday (November 25th), hosting West Chester University of Pennsylvania at 4 p.m.
