Cheyney Stuns Bowie State Men’s Basketball 74-70 on Monday Night

CHEYNEY, Pa. – Points were hard to come by Monday (11/30) night in Cope Hall, as the Bowie State University men's basketball team fell 74-70 to Cheyney University.

With the non-conference loss, the Bulldogs fell to 3-4 on the season. The loss, Bowie State's fourth in a row, marks the first time since the 2013-2014 season that Bowie State has dropped four consecutive games. To make matters worse, Bowie State had beaten Cheyney eight straight times, dating back to December 12, 2002.

Sophomore Ahmaad Wilson (Baltimore, Md.) led the Bulldogs with 15 points on 5-for-10 shooting, while senior Justin Beck (Ellicott City, Md.) along with junior Michael Briscoe (Waldorf, Md.) added 12 points apiece. Senior Julian Livingston (Bowie, Md.) rounded out the Bulldog double figure scorers with 11 points. Livingston also swatted away a career-high three shots to tie with junior Enuoma Ebinum (Greenbelt, Md.) for game-high block honors

Senior Andre Jackson (Baltimore, Md.) and sophomore Omari George (Baltimore, Md.) tallied seven points each while redshirt senior Miles Jackson (Silver Spring, Md.) contributed six points and a game-high eight rebounds.

"We have to learn how to play harder longer … But we will weather the storm", said Bowie State head coach Darrell Brooks.

Bowie State shot just 41.8 percent (23-for-55) from the floor and 32.0 percent (8-for-25) from behind the arc. The Bulldogs also struggled at the free throw line, connecting on 16-of-24 attempts (66.7 percent).

Cheyney (1-4) was led by Juwan Mullen (Seaford, Del.) with a game-high 22 points. Lakeem Duncan (Washington, D.C.) and Rafiq Marshall (Philadelphia, Pa.) contributed 16 and 13 points respectively for the Wolves. Marshall led the Wolves with seven rebounds in the win.

As a team, the Wolves shot 42.6 percent from the field (23-for-54), which included 47.6 percent (10-for-21) behind the 3-point line.

The Bulldogs will make its two longest road trips of the season beginning with a stop at Augusta (Ga.) University on Thursday (12/3) for a 7:30 p.m. non-conference contest, followed by another non-conference game at Palm Beach Atlantic University (West Palm Beach, Fla.) on Sunday (12/6) at 5 p.m.
