CARY, N.C. - The Bowie State University softball team opened CIAA crossover play with a 2-1 record at the CIAA Round-Up on Saturday afternoon. The Lady Bulldogs dropped a tough 1-0 decision to Fayetteville State University in eight innings in their first game of the day. Bowie State rebounded from the setback and went on to defeat Johnson C. Smith University 2-1 and pounded Livingstone College by a score of 11-4. Bowie State improves to 4-9 overall and 2-1 in conference play.

Caitlin O'Neill (Elkton, Md.) paced the Lady Bulldogs with six hits over three games and tied for second in team RBI with seven. Senior
Cassandra Clayborne (Damascus, Md.) tallied five hits, which included her second homerun of the season and scored a team-best three runs.

Jacqueline Pickering (Bowie, Md.) and
Nicoleen Ochoa (Madison, Ohio) recorded four hits for the Lady Bulldogs. Watt led Bowie State with four RBI. The Bowie State duo of junior

Emily Lewis (Aberdeen, Md.) accounted for three hits each while sophomore
Hailey Bethke (Havre de Grace, Md.) added one hit on the day.

The Lady Bulldogs opens Sunday's (3/22) final day of the conference round-up versus St. Augustine's University at 11:30 am, followed by a 1:30 meeting against Shaw University and wrap-up the weekend against Winston-Salem State University at 4 p.m. All games are played at the Walnut Creek Softball Complex.
