Freshmen Nicoleen Ochoa (Madison, Ohio) and Jacqueline Pickering (Bowie, Md.) paced Bowie State's Lady Bulldogs with four and three hits respectively. All three Pickering hits over the two games were triples. Sophomore Hailey Bethke (Havre de Grace, Md.) accounted for a pair of hits.

Ochoa (took both losses in the circle for the Lady Bulldogs, allowing 18 hits but struck out five.

The Hawks were led by Tori Cragan (Concord, N.C.) and Danielle Baccus (Hertford, N.C.) with four hits each. Cragan was responsible for a series-best six RBI, all in game two. Courtney Diamond (Casselberry, Fla.) along with Tina White (Whiteville, N.C.) tallied three hits apiece while Katlyn Brummett (Chantilly, Va.) and Chandler Bridges (Navarre, Fla.) added one hit each.

Alora Lincoln (Smithfield, Va.) earned the win in game one while Courtney Groce (Hamptonville, N.C.) relieved Kayla Robins (Matthews County, Va.) in the third inning of game two to pick up the extra inning win in the circle.

After three scoreless innings in the opening contest, Chowan plated two unearned runs in the fourth inning. With two outs in the book, Chowan's White reached on a dropped fly ball by Bowie State's left fielder that would have ended the inning, scoring Baccus and Brook Bowen (Windsor, N.C.).

White crushed a homerun to left field in the bottom of the sixth inning to give Chowan a 3-0 lead and eventual final score of game one.

In between games one and two, Bowie State's lone senior Cassandra Clayborne (Damascus, Md.) was honored on Senior Day. Clayborne had a tough home finale, going hitless at the plate but made several amazing running catches from her center field position.

Bowie State got on the scoreboard first in game two, pushing three across the dish in inning two or just one hit. With the bases loaded, junior Deanna Matlock (Pomona, Calif.) reached on a fielder's choice that scored freshman Emily Lewis (Aberdeen, Md.). Pickering would also score on a fielder's choice and Matlock crossed the plate via a wild pitch.

The Lady Bulldogs extended their lead to 4-0 in the bottom of the third inning following a Pickering double, scoring Lewis.

White's two-run single down the right field line and Cragan's two-run double down the left field line knotted the score in the top of the fifth.

Both teams failed to score in the seventh, forcing the contest into extra innings.  The Hawks exchanged runs in the eighth and ninth innings, leaving the score iced 6-6 heading into the tenth frame.

White hit an RBI single to right field and Cragan blasted a three-run homerun in the top of the tenth to push the Hawks ahead 10-6.  The offensive surge proved to be enough as Chowan retired the Lady Bulldogs in order to secure the victory.

Bowie State returns to action on Thursday (April 30th) in the opening round of the conference championships in Raleigh. The Lady Bulldogs will enter the championships as the #4 seed in the North and will take on either St. Augustine's or Winston-Salem State.
