ETTRICK, Va. – Sophomore
Kyah Proctor (Capitol Heights, Md.) scored a game-high 17 points to lead Bowie State University women's basketball on Wednesday evening but Virginia State cruised to the 66-46 victory. The loss was the sixth straight for the Lady Bulldogs and sets the Bowie State overall record at 9-10, 3-5 in the CIAA and 0-3 in the North.

Lisa Jing (Laurel, Md.) contributed 13 points and five rebounds and sophomore
Kiara Colston (Burtonsville, Md.) scored eight points in the loss. Senior
Jourdan Stanhope (Columbus, Ohio) and sophomore
Robin Heard (Waldorf, Md.) chipped in six and two points to round out Bowie State's scorers.
Virginia State (9-9, 3-6 CIAA, 1-2 North) shot 35.5 percent (11-of-31) from the field in the first half, but that included 7-of-11 behind the arc (63.6 percent) and took a 33-20 advantage into intermission. The Trojans controlled the glass over the first 20 minutes, holding a 24-13 advantage.
Bowie State made 30 percent of their first half field goals, shooting 6-of-20. The Lady Bulldogs were able to convert 7-of-8 first half free throws.
The Lady Bulldogs trimmed their deficit to eight (46-38) with 53 seconds left in the third quarter but would get no closer. In fact, Bowie State managed just eight points in final quarter. Two field goals came from Proctor, one field goal from Colston and Jing hit 2-of-4 free throws.
Donae' Moguel (Los Angeles, Calif.) came off the Trojans bench to lead the team with a double-double of 16 points and 10 rebounds. Wynterra Pittman (Graceville, Fla.) finished with 11 rebounds and added seven points, two assists, two blocks and a pair of steals.
Bowie State made 15-of-44 total field goals (34.1 percent) and 13-of-16 (81.3 percent) at the charity stripe. The 15 field goals was one off their season low of 14 (vs. Winston-Salem State) and the 44 attempts were a season-low for the Lady Bulldogs.
Virginia State dominated Bowie State on the glass, out-rebounding the Lady Bulldogs 50-28. The 28 Bowie State rebounds also tied a season-low for the visitors.
The Lady Bulldogs return to action on Saturday (1/30), traveling to Elizabeth City State University for a 2 p.m. divisional clash against the Lady Vikings.
