BOWIE, Md. - Senior
Julian Livingston (Bowie, Md.) and junior
Michael Briscoe (Waldorf, Md.) posted 13 points apiece for Bowie State University in a 70-68 men's basketball setback to Shaw University on Saturday afternoon. The loss dips the Bowie State record to 9-6 overall and 2-2 in the CIAA.

Miles Jackson (Silver Spring, Md.) added 12 points to goa long with seven rebounds and sophomore
Ahmaad Wilson (Baltimore, Md.) chipped in 11 points. Senior
Justin Beck (Ellicott City, Md.) and senior
Andre Jackson (Baltimore, Md.) scored none and six points respectively while junior
Enuoma Ebinum (Greenbelt, Md.) rounded out the Bulldogs scorers with four points and added six rebounds.

Bowie State began the game with an 8-0 run and held a 26-13 advantage by the 9:04 mark of the first half. The Bulldogs kept the Bears at bay and took a slim 41-36 lead into halftime.

First half shooting by both teams was not very impressive but fairly equal. The Bulldogs hit 13-of-36 (36.1 percent) compared to 13-of-34 (38.2 percent) for the Bears.

The Shaw Bears (6-10 overall, 3-1 CIAA) played their best basketball in the half. Shaw shipped away at the Bulldogs halftime lead and took their first lead (51-50) at the 12:50 mark on a deep 3-pointer by Kristopher Timmons (Durham, N.C.).

Bowie State's Wilson shifted the advantage back over on the next Bulldogs possession and went up by five (60-55) with 9:57 left in the contest.

Shaw's Larry Richardson, II (Garner, N.C.) capped off a 6-0 run to knot the game at 60-all about 90 seconds later.

The Bulldogs scored the next four points courtesy of a pair of Livingston free throws and a Beck layup only to Shaw answer with a another 6-0 run to create the games third tie, this time at 66-all with 5:19 left on the clock.

Shaw took its largest lead of the game with 2:19 remaining via a pair of Akeem Echols (Baltimore, Md.) free throws and a Rob Moore, Jr. (Brooklyn, N.Y.) layup.

Bowie State had several chances to either win or send the game to overtime but it just wasn't the Bulldogs day.

The Bulldogs will conclude their three-game home-stand versus CIAA Southern Division teams on Monday (January 11th), when they host Fayetteville State University at 7:30 p.m.
