RALEIGH, N.C. -Â Chowan University pitcher Kayla Robins strikes out 10 Bowie State players, leading the Hawks to a 4-1 CIAA Tournament victory over the Lady Bulldogs on Friday evening at the Walnut Creek Softball Complex. The loss eliminates Bowie State from the tournament and ends the Lady Bulldogs season at 15-22.

Bowie State recorded five hits in the loss and was led by sophomoreÂ
Nicoleen Ochoa (Madison, Ohio) with two hits. Senior
Danielle Watt (St. Leonard, Md.), sophomore
Emily Lewis (Aberdeen, Md.) and freshman
Tiffany Bearns (Lusby, Md.) were responsible for one hit each. Sophomore
Stefanie Ray (Damascus, Md.) was credited with the loss in the circle after surrendering six hits and four runs (two earned) in 4.1 innings of work.Â

Tina White tallied three hits in the victory for the Hawks with four Chowan players notching base hits in the win.Â

After three scoreless innings of play, the Hawks plated two runs in the fourth inning using sacrifice flies by Neal and Epley. Chowan (29-13) tacked on two runs in the fifth using Katrina Simmons' RBI triple and Tori Cragan's base hit up the middle.Â

BSU's Lady Bulldogs missed out on two great scoring opportunities in the third and fourth innings, stranding three and two runners respectively.

Bowie State plated one in the seventh using Watt's infield single that scored Ochoa, but the Hawks secured the 4-1 the win and a spot in Saturday's CIAA Championship game.
