CHEYNEY, Pa. - The Bulldogs volleyball team picked up their first win of the season on Wednesday night, earning a hard-fought three-set sweep of Cheyney, winning by sets of 25-21, 27-25 and 25-23 in Cope Hall.

The non-conference match featured 33 ties and 17 lead changes. Bowie State (1-15) completed the night with a .211 attack percentage compared to .192 for the Cheyney Wolves. The Bulldogs almost doubled the Wolves total kills (42-28) and were led freshman
Sydney Tucker (Columbia, Md.) and junior
Courtney Crawford (Lanham, Md.) with eight each on a combined 30 attacks.

Seniors
Tia Williams (Abingdon, Md.) and
Kiana Moore (Newark, Del.) were responsible for seven and six kills each while the Bulldogs duo of freshman
Caitland Okorafor (Hyattsville, Md.) and redshirt sophomore
Brianna Myers (Jessup, Md.) accounted for four kills apiece in the win.

Freshman
Oladia Menchaca (Landover, Md.) tallied double-digit assists with 16 and fellow freshman chipped in eight assists for Bowie State. Junior
Kilana Jenkins (Bridgeport, Conn.) recorded a match-high six service aces and seven digs.

Cheyney (0-10) was led by Virshawna Campbell with a match-high 13 kills on 30 attacks to go along with one service ace and tied for team-high dig honors with six. Bryanna Taylor was responsible for 20 of the Wolves' 23 total assists and added a half dozen digs.

The Bulldogs will return to action in less than 24 hours, making a short trip over to Lincoln (Pa.) for a 7 p.m. (CIAA) conference divisional matchup on Thursday night.
