PHILLIPPI, W.Va. – Alderson Broaddus University led from start to finish in Saturday's (11/18) non-conference contest against Bowie State University, defeating the Bulldogs 90-80 in the Battlers home opener. The loss, Bowie State's third in a row, sets the Bulldogs early season record at 1-3.

Omari George (Baltimore, Md.) tallied a double-double of 26 points and 14 rebounds to lead Bowie State and fellow senior
Dayshawn Wells (Baltimore, Md.) added 11 points in the loss.
Brandon Willis finished with 27 points while Mike Davis recorded 25. Willis finished 9-of-13 from the field and 5-of-8 behind the arc while Davis shot 9-for-16 and added four rebounds.
Malik Bocook finished with a double-double of 11 points and 10 rebounds while adding seven assists and four blocks.
Overall, the Battlers (3-1) shot 55.4 percent in Saturday's win which included 64.3 percent (18-of-28) in the opening 20 minutes.
In the opening six minutes of action, the Battlers took control of the game and jumped out to a 20-4 advantage. Later in the half, Alderson Broaddus took a 25-9 lead and then pushed the lead to 20 later in the half at 38-18 with 6:08 to play. After the Bulldogs cut the lead to 14, Willis made back-to-back layups pushing the lead back to 18 before taking a 49-34 lead into the halftime break.
Midway through the second half following a Bowie State basket cut the lead to 12, Mike Davis took a pass from Shamar Griffin and jumped over a Bulldog defender for a dunk. Bowie State's Bulldogs trimmed the Battlers lead down to six, 77-71, with 4:55 to play but would get no closer.
After an Alderson Broaddus timeout, Mike Mitchell made a layup and after a Bulldog layup on the other end, Davis scored four points in a row extending the lead back into double-digits. In the final minute leading by seven, Matt Watkins made 3-of-4 free throws icing the game clinching the 10-point Battler victory.
Mitchell finished with 14 points to go along with five rebounds while Chavez Harper added five and Watkins and Montaque Wright added three each.
After shooting 33 percent in the first half, Bowie State finished just shy of 49 percent in the final 20 minutes and ended the game with a 41.4 field goal shooting percentage The Bulldogs were able to win the battle on the glass, out-rebounding Alderson Broaddus 44-33.
The Bulldogs will make its home debut on Wednesday (11/22), hosting Indiana (Pa.) at 7 p.m.
