BOWIE, Md. - Visiting California University of Pennsylvania Vulcans softball takes two at Bowie State University on Saturday afternoon, defeating the Bulldogs by identical 2-0 scores in a non-conference doubleheader. The losses set Bowie State's record at 8-10 overall while California (Pa.) improves to 9-7 overall.

Bowie State managed just two hits over the two games with that coming off the bat of juniors
Jacqueline Pickering (Bowie, Md.) and
Emily Lewis (Aberdeen, Md.) in in the 6th and 7th innings respectively of game two. Junior
Nicoleen Ochoa (Madison, Ohio) took the loss in the circle in the opening game while fellow junior
Stefanie Ray (Damascus, Md.) was the losing pitcher in game two.

The California (Pa.) Vulcans were paced by Megan Jahoda (Buchanon, N.Y.) with five hits in seven plate appearances, which included a pair of doubles and two RBI. Paige Wilson (Warren, Pa.) and Emily Price (Warren, Ohio) tallied three hits each in the doubleheader. Kaity Finley (Latrobe, Pa.) and Hailey Wilson (Delaware, Ohio) contributed a pair of Vulcan hits while Emilee Downing (Groveport, Ohio) along with Courtney Sinclair (Oil City, Ontario) recorded one hit each to account for Cal's 17 total hits.

After five scoreless innings in game one, Cal's Jahoda doubled to right field in the top of the 6th inning with one out. Â Portia McBride was inserted as a pinch runner for Jahoda and scored following a Downing single to right. Emily Price singled through the right side of the Bowie State defense advancing Finley to second. Hailey Wilson laced a single to center field, pushing Finley across the dish for the 2-0 advantage which proved to be the final margin.

Cal's Price began the top of the first inning of game two with a hot shot through the right side and moved to second following a Paige Wilson single through the left side of the Bowie State defense. Jahoda stepped to the plate and singled through the left side, advancing Wilson to third a scoring Price for the early 1-0 advantage.

Hailey Wilson opened the California (Pa.) third inning with a walk and moved up 60 feet to second after a sacrifice bunt by Paige Wilson. A Jahoda double to left field scored Hailey Wilson from second to account for all the runs the Vulcans would need to secure the 2-0 victory.

The Bulldogs return to action on Wednesday (3/29), hosting East Stroudsburg (Pa.) University for the second time this season in a non-conference twinbill beginning at 1 p.m.
