Softball Dominates Lincoln (Pa.) Lions in Doubleheader Sweep

BOWIE, Md. - Bowie State University softball had no trouble on Sunday afternoon routing Lincoln University of Pennsylvania, 23-0 and 8-0, in a Central Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (CIAA) doubleheader. With the victories the Bulldogs improve to 12-12 overall, 9-1 in the CIAA and 4-0 in the North while Lincoln (Pa.) falls to 4-18 overall, 1-10 in the league and 0-6 in the division.  PHOTOS
 
Junior Inaya Jones (Baltimore, Md.) finished the day with four runs, six hits, a three run homer and 10 RBI to lead the Bulldogs. Bowie State also got offensive production from junior Ja'seph Smith (Bowie, Md.) who accounted for six hits in eight at bats in the two-game sweep.
 
Sophomores Tiffany Bearns (Lusby, Md.) and Megan Visele (Great Mills, Md.) batted .600 and .571 respectively on the afternoon, combining for seven runs and six hits.
 
Junior Stefanie Ray picked pitching wins in both games and threw a perfect game in in game two. Ray gave up one hit in game one and struck out 23 Lincoln (Pa.) Lady Lions over the two-game set.
 
Tierra Russaw (Westland, Mich.) was responsible for the Lady Lions lone hit on the day while Alexis Harrod suffered the losses in the circle, giving up 32 hits (23 earned).
 
The Bulldogs will step out of conference play when they return to action at West Chester on Wednesday (April 12) for a doubleheader beginning at 2:30 p.m.
