PETERSBURG, Va. - The Bowie State Bulldogs softball team erupted for seven runs in the top of the 4th inning and cruised to a 7-2 victory over Fayetteville State on Saturday afternoon in the semifinal loser's bracket game.

Inaya Jones (Baltimore, Md.) led Bowie State's offense with three hits while junior
Emily Lewis (Aberdeen, Md.) and sophomore
Morgan Powell (Upper Marlboro, Md.) tallied two hits each in the win. Junior
Stefanie Ray (Damascus, Md.) went the distance in the circle, striking out seven to earn her 19th win of the season.

Zoe Howard (Hampstead, N.C.), HaLee Knowles (Wallace, N.C.) and Courtney Pierre (Vanceboro, N.C.) led the Fayetteville State Lady Broncos with two hits each. Kyrin Walker (Carthage, N.C.) pitched 3.1 innings and was credited with the loss in the circle.

The Bulldogs will battle the Chowan Hawks at 3:30 this afternoon for the 2017 CIAA Championship.
