Hall, Tamba and Johnson Named to Black College Football Player of the Year Watch List

ATLANTA, Ga. - The Black College Football Hall of Fame formerly announced Bowie State's Amir Hall, Victor Tamba, Jr. and Daris Johnson to its 2017 Black College Football Player of the Year Watch List on Wednesday.  COMPLETE RELEASE
 
The winner of the 2017 Black College Football Player of the Year Award will be honored with the Deacon Jones Trophy during the Black College Football Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, which takes place on February 10, 2018 in Atlanta. Four finalists will be unveiled on December 12.
 
"This is a way to recognize the tremendous talent in HBCU football today," said Super Bowl MVP quarterback Doug Williams, a BCFHOF co-founder and 2011 inductee. "Through this Award, the Black College Football Hall of Fame is proud to showcase outstanding student-athletes."
 
Tamba and Johnson are two-year starters along the Bulldogs offensive line while Hall had a record setting season in 2016 from his quarterback position. Hall's accolades last season include CIAA Rookie of the Week, 4-Time CIAA Quarterback of the Week, All-CIAA First Team, CIAA Offensive Player of the Year and Bowie State Athletics Male Athlete of the Year. Along the way, Hall set or tied seven different Bowie State records in his sophomore season.
 
The Bowie State Bulldogs open the season Saturday, September 2nd on the road at Seton Hill University (Greensburg, Pa.). Kickoff time is set for 3 p.m. at Offutt Field.
