MURFREESBORO, N.C. – Bowie State University volleyball showed a lot of true grit on Sunday afternoon's CIAA Northern Division match at Chowan University before falling in straight sets by scores of 24-26, 21-25 and 15-25.
Oladia Menchaca put down a team-high five kills with a .333 hitting percentage to lead Bowie State and added four digs and an assist. in the contest.
Soljala Jones was second on the team in kills, knocking down four to go along with a solo block. The Bulldogs trio of
Shalom Omo-Osagie,
Chelsea Beaudoin and
Madison Marshall contributed three kills each on a combined 46 attacks.
Milica Vejnovic and Courtney O'Keefe recorded 12 and 11 kills respectively for the Hawks. Alyssa Born was Chowan's top defender, picking up 1 match-high 13 digs.
Bowie State finished the match with 21 kills and 34 digs while Chowan put down 36 kills and 46 digs.
The Bulldogs will return to the court Sunday (October 8) at Elizabeth City State. First serve is 6 p.m. in the R.L. Vaughn Center.
