SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - The Bowie State University women's basketball team opened its 2018-19 season on Saturday night (11/10), recording a 60-52 decision to host Shippensburg in the Wolf's Bus Lines Classic held inside Heiges Field House.
Shippensburg (0-1) got 18 points from Ariel Jones and a near double-double from Kryshell Gordy, who finished with nine points, a game-high 12 rebounds, three blocks, two assists and two steals. Other contributors for the Raiders include Aunbrielle Green, who scored 10 points and totaled seven rebounds, Lauren Pettis with six points and three rebounds and Lauren Mills had seven points.
Bowie State (1-0) scored 28 points off 26 Shippensburg turnovers, capitalizing on its opportunities despite shooting just 36.5 percent from the field and being out-rebounded (36-30) by the Raiders. At the free-throw line, the Bulldogs were perfect (9-of-9), while Shippensburg shot 57.7 percent (15-of-26).
In the decisive third quarter, Bowie State out-scored Shippensburg 24-13. The visitors led by as many 17 points before the Raiders chipped away late.

The Bulldogs return to action on Sunday (11/11) morning at 11 a.m. and will take on East Stroudsburg to closeout Bowie State's participation in the Wolf's Bus Lines Classic.
