LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa. - The Lincoln University Women's Volleyball Team fought off six match points from Bowie State University as they rallied to defeat the Bulldogs 18-16 in the fifth and final set to take the match 3-2 Friday night at Manuel Rivero Hall.

The match was the final match of the season for both teams as Lincoln (Pa.) conclude their 2018 campaign with a 2-22 overall record and a 2-15 record in CIAA matches. Bowie State finishes the season at 3-19 overall and 0-17 in league play.

Soljaia Jones led the Bulldogs with 12 kills on 27 attacks while
Madison Marshall added ten on 34 attacks. Shalom Oso-Omogie led the team with three aces while
Chelsea Beaudoin paced Bowie state with 15 digs

Tierra Russaw and Kaiya Lewis led the Lions with ten kills apiece. Alisa Foster had 31 assists and three aces.  Janae Stackhouse also had three aces to go along with nine kills. On the defensive side Tymera Crudup led all players with 24 digs while Taylor Williams added ten. Lewis had a match-high six blocks and Kaylarose Scott added five blocks.

The two teams split the first four sets with the Lions winning the first and third sets 25-23 and 25-21 and the Bulldogs taking the second and fourth sets with identical 25-18 scores.

In the fifth set, the Lions scored the first four points only to have the Bulldogs rally to score seven of the next eight and lead 7-5. A kill from Stackhouse brought Lincoln back within two 11-9 before Bowie State pushed the set to match point with three straight points to lead 14-9. Stackhouse's kill gave the serve back to the Lions and cut the lead two 14-10. Foster followed with two straight aces to close the gap to 14-12 and force a BSU timeout. Stackhouse added another kill and a Bulldog attack error followed as the Lions tied the match at 14-14, having held off five opportunities for Bowie State to win the match.

LUPA's Marshall swung the pendulum back towards the Bulldogs with a kill putting BSU on top 15-14 before Stackhouse struck again with a kill and Scott following suit to give the Lions a 16-15 lead. A kill from Jones tied the score again at 16-16. Two straight attack errors by the Bulldogs followed and the Lions had an 18-16 set win and a 3-2 win in the match.  Â
