LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa. – Bowie State rolled to a pair of easy wins on Saturday afternoon, silencing the Lincoln (Pa.) University Lady Lions 15-5 and 16-1 in CIAA Northern Division play. With the victories, the Bulldogs improve its overall mark to 10-15, 7-7 in league play and 5-3 in the division.
Senior
Jacqueline Pickering (Bowie, Md.) paced the Bulldogs with five hits over the two games while fellow senior
Ja'seph Smith and junior
Jaelyn Belt (Glen Burnie, Md.) added four hits each. The Bowie State trio of senior
Lindsey Fenner (Havre de Grace, Md.), junior
Morgan Powell (Upper Marlboro, Md.) and freshman
Morgan White (Baltimore, Md.) contributed three hits apiece and seniors
Tiffany Bearns (Lusby, Md.) and
Nicoleen Ochoa (Madison, Ohio) tallied a pair of hits each.
The Bulldogs pounded out 27 hits in the twin bill which included a home run by Bearns and Pickering while Ochoa, Pickering, Smith, Belt and Fenner combining for seven doubles.
Ochoa (7-8) picked up a pair of wins in the circle for Bowie State, striking out 11 in game one and four in game two and walked only one the entire afternoon.
As a team, the Lincoln (Pa.) Lady Lions (2-14, 0-12 CIAA, 0-6 North) accounted for 13 total hits during the doubleheader and Jemiah Groce (2-12) took the loss in both games.
Bowie State is scheduled to host Division I Howard University in a single non-conference contest on Monday (April 16th) at 3 p.m., weather permitting.
