RALEIGH, N.C. – Bowie State University men's basketball led from beginning to end in Thursday's (1/10) 58-48 conference road victory at Saint Augustine's University. The win, Bowie State's third straight, pulls the Bulldogs overall record even at 8-8 and improve to 4-1 in CIAA play.

Rinardo Perry paced Bowie State with 18 points while redshirt junior
David Belle contributed 13 points and a game-high seven rebounds. Junior
Cameron Hayes came off the Bowie State bench to record nine points with 6-of-6 coming at the free throw line.
Bowie State wrapped up the night shooting 17-of-37 from the field (46 percent), 18-of-23 from the free throw line and controlled the glass, holding a 32-19 advantage.
Bowie State got off to a blistering start with a 9-0 run. Saint Augustine's responded with a 7-1 run to set the score at 10-7 but the visitors led 12-7 at the first media timeout at the 14:59 mark.
Bowie State shot 53 percent from the field (10-of-19) which included 5-of-11 (46 percent) beyond the 3-point line over the first 20 minutes and carried a 32-25 lead into halftime. The Bulldogs also saw positive numbers at the free throw line in the first half, knocking down 7-of-9.
The Bulldogs pushed its lead to 43-29 by the 15:18 mark of the second half but Saint Augustine's Falcons kept grinding and narrowed the deficit to 43-37 by the under 10 media timeout.
Saint Augustine's (3-10, 0-5 CIAA) trimmed the deficit to 43-40 at the 6:32 mark but Bowie State finally stopped the 11-0 Falcons runs thanks to a pair of free throws by junior
Cameron Hayes.
A Tyre Gathright fast break layup at the 4:26 mark pulled Saint Augustine's within two at 48-46 but the Falcons fell victim to the Bulldogs after that as Bowie State used an 8-0 run to extend the visitors lead to 56-46 with less than a minute remaining in the game.
The free throw line was kind to the Bulldogs over the final moments of the game as Bowie State knocked down nine straight over the final 2:14.
Gathright was the leading scorer for Saint Augustine's, tallying 16 points of 6-of-13 shooting from the field and added three rebounds and an assist to his stat line. Rashad George was the Falcons leading rebounder with five.
Bowie State's Bulldogs return to the hardwood on Saturday (January 12) at Shaw University with game time set for 4 p.m. in the C.C. Spaulding Gymnasium.
