FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Bowie State University (6-18) volleyball made its first appearance in the CIAA Championships for the first time since the 2009 season but came up short, losing in straight sets to Fayetteville State University by scores of 16-25, 15-25 and 11-25.
The Bulldogs managed just 15 kills overall on 95 attacks with seniors
Shalom Omo-Osagie (Baltimore, Md.) and
Chelsea Beaudoin (Upper Marlboro, Md.) pacing Bowie State with four kills each on a combined 29 attacks at the net. Junior
Soljala Jones (Washington, D.C.) contributed a pair of kills while five other Bulldog players chipped in one kill. Freshman
Neysha Washington Winchester, Va.) accounted for a team-high 11 digs and sophomore
Madison Marshall (Albany, N.Y.) picked up 10 digs.
Jessica Williams (Hiram, Ga.) led the Fayetteville State (17-6 overall) with 11 kills while Da'Nesha Miller (Hilton Head Island, S.C.) split duties with eight kills and 12 assists. Xiamana Spikes (Raeford, N.C.) added six kills and blocks.
