MILLERSVILLE, Pa. - The Millersville University softball team recorded a doubleheader sweep over Bowie State on Tuesday (3/19) afternoon at Seaber Softball Stadium. Millersville won 9-1 in game one and followed up with a 10-0 shutout.

Senior
Tiffany Bearns (Huntingtown, Md.) went 2-for-3 at the plate against the Marauders with one of her two hits being solo home run, her fifth of the season. Sophomore
Aseyah Alexander (Silver Spring, Md.) tallied two hits of her own in four at bats.

Game one scoring started in the bottom of the first when Rebecca Blatt and Catherine Johnson recorded RBI singles for a 2-0 lead. Bowie State responded with the lone home run of the day in the next half inning.

In the second, Allie Janowiak, Faith Willenbrock and Johnson each had an RBI single, extending the Marauders' lead to 5-1. Janowiak led the third inning charge with a double, scoring two runners and pushing the lead to 7-1. Two at-bats later, Blatt found a hole in the left side and Janowiak scored.

Millersville (11-10) clinched the victory by a Devan Masciulli RBI sacrifice fly which secured the eight-run advantage.

Janowiak, Brianna Battavio and Johnson all went 2-for-3. The Marauders totaled 12 hits in the game.

Millersville scored three or more runs in three different innings while allowing only three hits in game two.

Millersville opened the contest with runs coming from Willenbrock and Hunter Little. In the second, Devan Masciulli doubled to right center, scoring Brittany Little and extended the game to a 3-0 Millersville advantage. Later in the inning, Blatt singled to center field, adding two runs to the scoreboard. Blatt's two RBI single opened the lead to 6-0.

In the bottom of the fourth, Blatt doubled down the left field line with bases loaded, scoring all runners. After Blatt's double, Willenbrock brought home her teammate with a single to left field, ending the Marauders scoring.

Blatt, Willenbrock, Masciulli and Janowiak had two hits each in the victory. Blatt finished the game with a team-high five RBIs.

Bowie State (3-10) returns to the field Saturday (March 23) making its home debut against East Stroudsburg (Pa.) University in a non-conference doubleheader. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
